The Negro
Nothing sends the boys in to a frenzy quicker than the latest "race story" . At this writing they are twisting themselves in to knots trying to defend the welfare rancher and the basketball guy. I have come to realize that they just cant see that people who are not white men do not experience life as they do. It is beyond their comprehension. I think it is because they are incapable of seeing people who are not like them as fellow human beings. Each person is automatically assigned characteristics based on gender and race. Actions and traits that confirm their beliefs are accentuated. Each day the bubble they live in squeezes a little more and hurts them a little more. They view their "pain" as a virtue. Stupid white men.

Fruitful Multiplying
America is a Christian nation. I hear that from the boys at all times. It's not said as a statement of fact but more like a threat. Usually teeth are bared when spitting out that phrase. The boys all live in either gated communities or on the very edge of the suburbs, the kind of place where you can shoot pumpkins from your deck and have nothing but woods as the backstop. The boys like it out there. Reminds them of someone else's forefathers back in the days of 1776. They don't like us city folk much. We're often the wrong color, or race, or religion. And the city smells, air is polluted, streets are jammed with traffic. People swarming all over! Not in the clean, white areas the boys live.
Here's the question; why don't you like to live around the affects of your god's words "be fruitful and multiply"?

I'm A victim And You're Not
Nobody in America today is more victimized than the white, male , christian. Nobody. They are hounded from the public square, sneered at, ridiculed, denigrated, denied basic human rights by the liberal elites and the non-white, non-christian outsiders who are destroying America.
Also businessmen face the same treatment.
Since I don't watch, read, or listen to the Right-Wing-Noise-Machine I can only assume the above mentioned beliefs are fueled by the right wing media. No matter how many times the boys invoke their privileges as white men, they believe themselves to be victims. They feel cornered, trapped. The "others", led by the Nazi, communist, fascist, socialist President Obama are crushing them.
It never ceases to amaze me how people will believe what they want despite the evidence to the contrary. The Shutdown has sent them in to a seething rage (again). It's almost amusing watching them now. They are so easily manipulated.
I'm looking forward to a time when I no longer have such awful people as coworkers. The fear, hate, and anger that they spew out on a daily basis is downright disturbing. And the best part? They believe the rest of the world is narrow-minded, blind to reason, ignores evidence, and stifles dissent.
The armies of the politically correct are stifling the free speech of the real Americans.
It really feels like the end of empire times. I won't miss these guys.

Where was I?
So much has happened since the last post on this blog. Barack Obama has been reelected. Popes have gone and come. Homosexers can now get married. And it seems racism is not a factor when it comes to voting.
How are the boys of the right wing doing? Not well, it seems. America is changing. The dark people, the colored are more numerous than before. Every day America becomes a little less white and the boys are a little more scared. Their fear and paranoia rage out of control They had a moment when SCOTUS found the VRA unconstitutional. Chests puffed and swaggering like white men of old, they talked about how "their guys" took "care of business". Sadly for them SCOTUS "let them down" by deciding against DOMA and Prop 8.
The reelection of President Obama was a shock to them. They were staggered by it. The right-wing noise machine had assured them of a Romney victory and they could not believe what had happened. The "infinite wisdom of the American people" was replaced by "those assholes who voted for that Kenyan". Yup, that's ma' boys.

Election Year
Where was I?
Ah yes! The upcoming election has sent the scared white, right-wing boys in to a frenzy. The black man with the "foreign" name is scaring the bejaysus out of them. The socialist! The Nazi!, The communist!, the fascist! he's a muslamite! He's goddless! He's both! They are, literally, terrified of a man that does not exist. The whole Clint Eastwood talking to a chair is a perfect analogy. Arguing with a person that is not there. It's all in your mind, boys. Death panels don't exist. Really.
Every day I endure the boys working themselves into a frothy mix of fear & hate. I've never know people to be so easily manipulated. They know what to think and they only need to be told once. The right wing noise machine keeps them on edge. Every day a new outrage, every day something else to be scared about. I think I can grasp how it might have been, in those first few moments, as the first Europeans met the Indian tribes, I am dealing with a world so alien to my own experience.
A quick review of what they believe in that does not exist.
Obama was born in Kenya.
Obama is a Muslim.
Obama is a socialist, Nazi, communist, fascist. Obama is Hitler.
Death panels.
Obama has signed in to law more restrictions on the 2nd amendment than any other president.
Obama is giving everything away to "the blacks". (I have no idea what "everything" is).
When I think or am reminded of other stuff I'll add to the list.
If you want to know more just watch the/listen to the right wing noise machine.

Women
I'd like to thank Herman Cane for bringing to the fore the latent misogyny of my colleagues. Her's a sample of the remarks I've heard in the past couple of weeks.
Note: These remarks are only said when the women in the office are not around.
Typical, as soon as a man gets success some bitch pops up to bring him down.
They're only saying this stuff because they want his money.
They probably spent all the money on shoes and now they want more.
You know what women are like.
The thing that's so interesting about these guys is they are so unaware of their attitude toward women. They sneer at women for "only being interested in shopping" but when one of the women in the office discuss politics they snicker and giggle about how women "should stick to what they know". As I said, none of these comments are made when women are around. The attitude toward the women is one of polite condescension. They condemn women for being superficial but when a woman steps out of that stereotype they are condemned for it.
You wouldn't believe how terrified they are of Oprah Winfrey. She makes them hide under their desks, shaking with fear and anger. OW is represents their biggest fears. An influential woman, a black woman. They blame her for Barack Obama's election. Who knew that she had such power?

Who Are These Men?
I work with them. They are white, middle-class, christian, and conservative. THey are barely holding on to being middle-class. THey come from upper middle-class background but have slid down the ladder a little. They believe that "their country" is being taken away from them by the gay, women, minorities. Basically anyone who is not exactly like them.
